speaking & training

Bird

With my extensive background in integrated, measurable communications, I am often invited to speak at industry and training events on integrated communications, measurement, social media, crisis communications, media relations and communications strategy. I’m equally comfortable speaking to students and young professionals, at public relations conferences with thousands of attendees, to professional development organizations, or to high-level executives focused on economic development.

Select speaking engagements in recent years include the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Vocus Users Conferences, the 2008 Institute for Public Relations Measurement Summit, Ragan Communications’ 2009 Corporate Communicators Conference (where they had to move me from a breakout room to the main ballroom due to the crowd – it was quite funny), PRSA’s (Public Relations Society of America) 2008, 20092010 and 2011 International Conferences, the final BlogPotomac in 2009, and Ignite DC #5 in 2010, which was quite a trip (5 minutes/20 slides… you try it!).

To get a feel for my style, this is my take on “measurement in the age of now,” that I presented at PRSA’s 2010 International Conference. Better yet, you can actually see me in action; thanks to Green Buzz Agency for taking this video of my presentation on “redefining public relations in the 21st century” at What’s Next DC early in 2011.

And if those testimonials weren’t enough, here are some more: “a delight to hear;” “great speaker, relevant information;” “[I found] Shonali Burke’s presentation and generous advice greatly helpful;” these are typical of attendee feedback on my presentations.

Coming up so far in 2012:

If you’re interested in my speaking and training services, please let me know (you can shoot me an email or schedule a call with me). You’ll be delighted at how affordable I am. And if you’ve already booked me, here are three options for speaker bios, and my preferred mugshot (and thank you!).
